Happy Memorial Day!

Memorial Day at Ala Moana Park
Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died during military service. It typically marks the start of summer vacation season and Labor Day marks its end.
Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.

Every year on Memorial Day, more than 40,000 residents of Hawaii and visitors gather at Ala Moana Beach Park to honor loved ones. This year’s ceremony will start at 6 p.m. The event will include music and a ceremonial lighting of the Light of Harmony, leading up to the floating of lanterns onto the Pacific Ocean.
